Go Green and Save Money in Del Mar Heights Homes

Becoming eco-friendly doesn't need to be an expensive option; rather, it can actually help Del Mar luxury homeowners to generate more savings. Throughout the years, the government has awarded many tax credit incents to consumers in order to encourage them to purchase more energy-efficient appliances and home improvement materials. Here are some simple suggestions on how you can save money while at the same time going green.

Purchase a programmable thermostat so that you will be able to set it to stay at a lower temperature when the house will be empty. The basic model of these types goes for under $100, you can save up to $180 annually on bills and help in conserving energy.

Check if your windows are properly sealed and insulated. The average home can have leaks that are the same as leaving a window open all year round. By sealing up your windows, you'll keep more heat inside, thus lowering your energy consumption and saving you money.

Start using light-emitting diode light bulbs or LEDs for Del Mar luxury homes. These energy-efficient bulbs could reduce your electric bills while also decreasing the carbon emission that you add to the environment. At first glance, they are more costly than ordinary incandescent bulbs but in the long run, since they use one-fifth of the energy and lasts ten times longer, you will save more cash.

By investing less than 50$ for a dual-flush model, you can cut your water consumption by 40%. This translates to almost 30 gallons a day. Replacing old showerheads and faucets can reduce leaks, thus saving you water and money.

Though at first it seems tedious, unplugging small appliances like oven toaster and coffee maker when they're not used could save you lots on your electric bill. It can also serve to protect Del Mar luxury homes from unexpected fires.

These changes may look small but if everyone contributes their part, we can make a big difference for the environment while saving money.

Improving The Curb Appeal of Del Mar Heights Homes

As many are not aware of, improving your curb appeal won't just result in an increase in your home's value when it's listed in the market. It also gives you the privilege to increase your Del Mar Heights home's entire neighborhood value.

Even if you're not going to sell your home anytime soon, improving its curb appeal is a worthwhile project, as it shows what type of a homeowner you are. It would give you a lot of credit and benefits. So here are few tips to spruce up the curb appeal of your Del Mar Heights home:

1. The Sidewalks and Driveways. As this is the first presenting part of your property, sidewalks and driveways need to look attractive for guests, passers-by, and other neighbors. One way to make them up is applying a color that is not connected directly to the color of your Del Mar Heights home. Fix the cracks and uneven sections of the sidewalks. This may cost you some money but the benefits that will come from it during the sale is priceless.

2. The Door. It is the part of your home which attracts visitors to come in. A plain door may be a bit boring and may tend to recede into the background. Consider applying a contrasting color to your door. Don't be scared to try different colors. Just a pint of paint can color your doors, so if you happen to dislike what you have applied, you can apply the next color of your choice.

3. The Trees. It is important that you trim your trees regularly. For landscaping, complement the appearance of your home. You can always hire a professional in doing this but you could also do it by yourself using a chain saw or a pole pruner.

4. The Outdoor Lighting. Consider applying low voltage or solar lighting to improve your curb appeal. There are hundreds of designs of solar lights in the market, so pick whatever you desire. You can apply them on your pathways and also your trees to create night-time focal points. This would give buyers much interest about your home.

You can always try to do more research and apply the things you want for the betterment of your home and its curb appeal. Enjoy sprucing up your home this summer!

Here are some tips in designing your Del Mar Heights homes to put more life into it:

It is said that wall painted with strong color can make a room warmer and cozier, as well as more exciting.
In choosing the color of the paint, deep red or gray-blue are colors that can make your room cozier and warmer, but your color choices should depend on what the rest of your room looks like. You can also decide the color of your room depending to its features, like the painting that is hanging elsewhere in your room.
  • Ceiling paint. One way to color your ceiling is to dilute the wall color to 15% to 20% of its strength and use that as the paint for your ceiling. This would make the color of your room connected.
  • Furniture layout. Your furniture shouldn't always have to be in a right angle position. It is good to play with the position of your squared furniture. A squared table can be position 45 degrees, thus change can give your room a whole new look. You can also try rotating your squared furniture diagonally to give your room more twist to its layout style.
Also consider all the large furniture pieces should not go along or be beside each other. Balance in a room is very important.

Before going somewhere, try considering these few tips on making your Del Mar Heights homes protected while you're away:

Call up the mailing company, the newspaper company to stop the deliveries for the meantime. Or you can also try asking your neighbors to do you a favor in picking up the delivered mails for you. This would make others think that someone's home.
  • Turn off the electricity. This is for you to prevent unwanted incidences like fire. Turn off and unplug all your appliances even the benign ones (toasters, televisions and more). Turn off also all the nonessential circuit breakers.
  • Turn off the water. Turn off the water at the main valve. This would prevent you from leaks if any pipe circumstances occur.
  • Leave your lights on. For this could be a convincing sign that somebody's inside your Del Mar Heights homes. Leave the lamp on that is located near a window. If you are going to leave the light outside on, place them on a timer. For leaving outside light on from night to day can surely give burglars a sign that no one's home.

New Beach Safety Center for Del Mar Heights Homes

The Del Mar City Council approved the changes in the planned designs for the new Beach Safety Center that will serve Del Mar Heights homes. The changes in the plans were approved in the June 20 meeting.

The change is to cover the storm drain channel, located near the Del Mar Hotel, starting from Coast Boulevard to the beach outlet. Many people thought that the current drain is not a good sight as it tends to collect all the litter.

A hydraulic study was ordered by Friends of the Powerhouse, who are helping to raise funds for the Beach Safety Center project. The study was conducted to determine if the change is going to be feasible. And it also determined that in covering the channel, no impacts to the drainage or flow in the area would be seen.

Friends of the Powerhouse President Barbara Harper, said that they are very excited in covering the ditch, for it is an eyesore for all the passers-by in the area. She also said that the recent fund raiser donor guaranteed a $50,000 donation to the project after hearing that the group is planning on covering the channel.

This improvement to the current design plans would help a great deal in the community fundraising project as it attracts a lot of excitement for the people living in Del Mar Heights homes.

An estimated $2.5 million is the anticipated cost of the entire Beach Safety Center project. One-third of that has been committed to be sponsored by Friends of the Powerhouse. The sale of the Balboa Lot will cover $700,000 plus the funds that will be coming from the Coastal Conservancy will cover another $650,000. The rest will come from city funds allocated for the project.

This project will go out to bid this summer, and the application and construction of the project could begin in September. The change would beautify the area and create a better access walkway for Del Mar Heights homes residents on their way to the beach.
